CAAC

An interesting reverse side to this bag: an untidy blue streak. Part of the design -- at attempt to imitate Cathay, perhaps? -- or merely an ink leakage in the printing press?

Thanks to Steffen Heinrich. (2000)

CAAC (light blue)

Another vintage bag from when CAAC still flew planes.

Thanks to Steve Silberberg. (2003)

CAAC (brown)

Issued by the Shanghai Office of  "Zhongguo Minhang" (CAAC = Civil Aviation Administration of China), the former state-owned Chinese airline for national as well as international flights.

The four big characters at the top stand for "Zhongguo Minhang".

The script in the centre of the bag is the usual "Sanitation bag. Use for vomit and waste".

The five small characters at the bottom read "Shanghai guanliju", Shanghai administration department.

No, I haven't suddenly become a genius at Chinese. This translation was kindly provided by Anke Scherer (who is such a genius).

Thanks to Walter Brinker (2005)
