Sterling Airways (Caravelle)

Obtained from Peter Black, who says he got it in 1987 (but he thinks it's older than that). The plane is a stylized Caravelle. The bag was made by Dansk Bose Industri of Lyngby Waterproof. Or something like that.

Thanks, Peter. (2003)

Sterling Airways

No prizes for guessing which airline this bag came from. Yes, it's STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING STERLING (and so on, 46 times). Looks like the designer of this monstrosity ran out of ideas, and held down the Repeat key a bit too long. Unfortunately, the letters don't match up across the join at the side of the bag. So we get such stammerings as STERLERLING, STEFTERLING, STESTERLING, STERLINGLING, and so forth.

Thanks to Norwegian collector Christian Kamhaug, who says he actually likes this bag. Maybe STESTERLING means something in Norwegian? (mid 1980s)

This bag features a SEA logo repeated 224 times, give or take a few in the pleats and chopped by the thoughtfully provided thumbhole for easy opening.

Thanks to Roger Macrae. (2002)
